San Antonio & Dade City Commentary by Keith Creeden
Thank you Keith. Hopefully we can get more people to provide commentaries, pictures, blogs, and more from every race - everyone will surely enjoy!
San Antonio Road Race - Feb 13, 2010
Category Men Pro, 1, 2: The Pro,1, 2 got off to a quick start with a crash on the first downhill taking out 4-5 riders and doing equipment damage along with 1 possible collarbone, hurt wrist, and lots of road rash. A second crash on the backstretch took out another rider in a solo crash. Fortunately, after this the race was safe other than several flats on the rough downhill section on Ramsey Road. A break of about 6 riders developed at the end of the first lap and was joined by a second small group to make a break of about 12-15 riders. There were 2 other chase groups. As the riders hit the final hill Bobby Sweeting (Global Bike Racing) cleared the group and hung on for the win with about 8 bike lengths over Oscar Henao (Z-Motion) in second with Andrew Crater (Aerocat Cycling) in third. There were 51 riders that finished out of the approximately 65 that started the 68 mile 4 lap race.

Category Men Cat 3: The men cat 3 raced with the pro,1,2 with a field size of 38 cat 3 mixed with the 65 pro,1,2. The highlight of this race for the cat 3 men was Josh Chalmers(Colavita) that made the initial break as the only cat 3 and stayed with the break the entire race to win his cat 3 race by 2 minutes over Jimmy Page (USF Cycling) that had made a second break with Kevin McGuire (ACT) taking the field sprint for third.
Dade City Criterium - Feb 14, 2010
Category Men Pro 1, 2: The pro,1,2 field started a field of 50 riders for this 6 corner technical crit course. Repeated attacks were pulled back until finally a break of 6 riders made it away. They were later joined by 3 riders and this break was gone with 9 of the 10 money spots up the road. The break cleared the final turn with a tight sprint to the line. Andrew Crater (Aerocat Cycling) took the win just edging out Grant Potter (Z-Motion) in second and John Durango (Santo Cycling) in a close third.

Category Men Cat 3: An impressive race for two racers representing the University of South Florida. Jimmy Page and John Stelljas attacked on the first lap, got a gap, and never looked back. With about 5 laps to go they had lapped the field and sat on the back for the last few laps crossing the line with joined raised hands John in first and Jimmy in second. The field tried several times with attacks to pull them back but could not get organized and nobody could bridge to catch them. The field came down to a field sprint with the ORC junior Lucas Wardein taking the field sprint. |

A word about Littering
Please pass along the word about littering while we ride our bikes, not just at the races but in training as well. The world is not a trash can and we must protect the outdoors that we so much enjoy.Tell your friends and teammates and hold them and yourself accountable. Race courses are hard enough to get without having to defend irresponsible bike racers for poor actions. |
