Friday Update: Day before the event!!!
Hey folks planning to come to the Georgia “State of Gravel” this Saturday near Athens, GA. Couple of notes.
-Online registration is still open and will close at NOON on Friday. There will be onsite reg starting at 7:30. But do yourself a favor and save the $10 from onsite prices.
-Camp Swamp is the host for our event and they do not allow pets or alcohol on property. Please be respectful of these policies.
-There will be a mandatory rider meeting at the Start/Finish Line at 8:45am. This will only last for 10 minutes to allow for last minute prep before we start promptly at 9am.
-The SAG Stop and Timing Checkpoint is located at mile 15 for all riders. It is SUPER important that you go through the timing mat so we can have accurate count of riders for safety at this point. The 60 milers will pass back through this same timing line and SAG Stop at Mile 51.
-When riders arrive at the SAG the 60 milers go left and the 30 milers go straight.
-There are shower facilities on site at the Camp so bring a towel and enjoy the post event fun after getting the dirt off.
-There will be food and drink provided for the riders after the ride so plan to stick around and cheer on the other riders as they finish.
-The State of Gravel is on very remote roads with VERY limited cell service. Please be prepared with simple basic tools.
-In case you didn’t check the weather, the rain will be done and gone by Friday afternoon but the cool front behind it will mean start time temps of about 44 degrees with a high temp of 55. Perfect temps for a gravel adventure but cool if you’re not prepared.
Can’t wait to see you all Saturday morning!
